Order of the National Green Tribunal on damage to dwellings due to landslide, Doda district, Jammu & Kashmir, 20/09/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News item published in Newspaper ‘The Hindu’ dated 04.02.2023 titled “19 families shifted after houses in J & K village develop cracks” dated 20/09/2023.
The issue relates to the damage caused to 21 structures in Doda district of Chenab Valley in Jammu & Kashmir on account of landslide which resulted into displacement of inhabitants.
The Special Secretary (Technical) Forest, Ecology and Environment Department appearing for Jammu & Kashmir informed the court that short term and long term action plans will be prepared within two weeks and that necessary steps for rehabilitation of the displaced families will also be completed expeditiously. The action taken earlier as also the timeline for completing the rehabilitation action will also be reflected in the report, the authorities assured the court.
The court directed that the report be filed within a period of four weeks and the next hearing was listed for November 2, 2023.
