Bambusa tulda Roxb is distributed in Northeast India, Orissa, Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand and Indonesia. In Andhra Pradesh it has distribution in Visakhapatnam district.

This paper deals with a new species viz. Bambusa mokokchungeana from Nagaland and with nomenclature of the bamboos from North East India and Andaman Island.

Invasive weeds have become a major environmental concern at local, national, regional and global level. Very recently, the authors have noticed an exotic temperate weed in the Mussoorie hills i.e. Stevia ovata. It is spreading in moist, South-West hill slopes.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands is the largest archipelago system consisting of over 200 islands, over 300 inlets and constitute one of the hotspot of biodiversity. 3,552 plant species are known from these islands. As regards bamboos not much work has been done because most of the areas are unexplored.
