JORHAT, Dec 5: Though no case of any bird flu has been reported here so far, the Jorhat district administration is taking all necessary precautions to tackle the possible outbreak of the dreaded disease. At an emergency meeting called by Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Ms LS Changsan at her office chamber on Thursday, the details for meeting any exigency in this respect were worked out.
The avian flu virus has now been detected in the diseased poultry populations in pockets of Barpeta and Nalbari districts too. Earlier, the virus was detected among the diseased poultry populations in three pockets of Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro) districts.
JOYSAGAR, Dec 4: The Sivasagar district administration has banned the entry of poultry to Sivasagar district to prevent the spread of bird flue in Sivasagar district.

Dreaded bird flu disease has spread to new places as Bhopal- based High Security Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (HSADL) has confirmed presence of the virus of the dreaded bird flu among the diseased backyard fowls of Sarpara and Patgaon villages of Kamrup district. This the second case of outbreak of the dreaded disease caused by the H5N1 virus in the State.
If migratory birds were centre attractions for the tourists in Assam, this time they have brought disaster with them. The health ministry has confirmed that it was migratory birds who brought this deadly bird flu to Assam.
The Assam government has not only started culling operations, but also formed teams of experts to keep a close watch on inter-country bird movements.
GUWAHATI, Dec 2: After Hajo, bird flu has been confirmed in Mirza, Sarpara, Rangamati, Uparhali ete areas in Palasbari Revenue Circle in Kamrup district. According to Kamrup DC RC Jain, samples of dead birds that had been sent to Bhopal and Pune laboratories tested positive for avian flu.
The Bhopal-based High Security Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (HSADL) has confirmed the outbreak of bird flu among the domesticated fowls of Thakuria Chuba of Rajabazar village under Hajo Revenue Circle of Kamrup district. Reports of unusual death of fowls have also been come from parts of Sarpara village of Palasbari of the district, sources said.
Gargi Parsai, NEW DELHI:Barely three weeks after India declared itself to be free from the highly pathogenic Avian Influenza (Bird Flu), the deadly disease showed up in Kamrup district of Assam last week.
Consequently, India has notified the World Organisation for Animal Health(OIE), about the outbreak of the disease and has lost its bird flu-free status.

Fresh outbreak of the dreaded bird flu disease of poultry at Hajo in Kamrup (Rural) district of Assam is expected to hit export of poultry products though it may not have much impact on the domestic market, feel poultry experts.
