The matter related to the operation of 138 brick kilns in violation of environmental norms in Hisar district of Haryana. The tribunal was of the view that the operation of brick kilns needs to be regulated and the Haryana State Pollution Control Board and the District Magistrate, Hisar need to take remedial action.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in its report to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) said that two brick kilns are operating in village Bamnoli, Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh without zig zag technology and responsible for violating environmental laws, rules and regulations set up by the state and the central government.

Navbharat Brick Field and Shiv Brick Field are operating in violation of the Uttar Pradesh Brick Kilns Criteria Act. The brick kilns are causing air, water and soil pollution and which in turn is causing many health hazards.

The applicant, Ajay Kumar said that in district Haridwar, Uttrakhand, a large number of brick kilns are operating illegally without having requisite consent/NOC/clearance from the appropriate statutory regulations. "More than 190 brick kilns are operating in the area without complying with the requirement of environmental norms," the applicant said.

The matter related to illegal operation of 18 brick kilns in villages Gharota, Nala, Bhawani, Jangal, Mamial, Chasma, Kaunterpur, Aima Changam, Parmanand and Marhi, district Pathankot, Punjab in violation of terms and conditions imposed by the government of Punjab under the Punjab Control of Bricks Supplies, Price and Distribution Control Order, 1998.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Hakam Singh & Others Vs State of Rajasthan & Others dated 11/07/2022.

Question for consideration was compliance of environmental norms by the brick kilns in Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan. Particular grievance is absence of requisite consents under the Air and the Water Acts and siting criteria, resulting in violation of law and air pollution to the detriment of public health and the environment.
