It is said that illegal brick kilns are operating within 8 km from Raj Nagar Extension on the pipeline road going from Teela Mod to Murad Nagar. Even mining is also going on in the said area causing environmental damage and health hazards to the nearby residents of the area.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Bengal Brick Field Owner’s Association Vs West Bengal Pollution Control Board dated 05/11/2020.

The NGT in its order of August 6, 2020 had directed the CPCB and the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) to carry out a carrying capacity study in the state with specific preference to areas where the brick fields are concentrated within a period of three months. But the report has not yet been filed.

The Additional District Magistrate, Ghaziabad in its report September 14, 2020 has said that the brick kilns have been closed.

The issue for consideration was the remedial action against cheap waste paper and the road sweep waste import for firing of brick kilns. According to the applicant, 900,000 tons of waste is imported which is hazardous.
