Itanagar: Despite unabated poaching of tigers in the Namdapha Wildlife Sanctuary and Tiger Reserve in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, a recent camera trapping exercise has revealed existence of 35 species of various animals, including tigers and leopards.

The exercise was carried out by a Guwahati-based NGO Aaranyak with the logistic support provided by the NWSTR from the first week of February to March 29 last for a detailed report on tigers and their prey base animals, field director S J Jongsam said in a report.

KHARSANG: The growing demand for a motorable suspension bridge over the Noa-Dehing River connecting Miao with Pisi in Changlang district has at last been fulfilled. At least for the moment. Senior leader of the region, Minister for Power, Parliamentary Affairs, Environment & Forest Setong Sena, during a public meeting at Kharsang on August 4, made the commitment to construct a bridge at the said point under TFC within the current financial year.

BORDUMSA: Assam Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi announced to take up the construction of a concrete bailey bridge over Buri Dehing River at Wagun Ghat, the busiest commercial ferrying spot in Changlang district that connects Assam with Arunachal.

Itanagar, Sept 25: Arunachal Pradesh has produced over eight lakh tonnes of crude oil from its oil fields located at Changlang district till date.
Official sources here today said altogether 8,79,924.74 tonnes of crude oil have been extracted from the district by various oil companies since oil exploration started and the state government earned a total revenue of over Rs 141 crore.
