NEW DELHI: The Union Steel Minister, Virbhadra Singh on Wednesday said his Ministry could step in to seek a speedy clearance for the controversial Rs. 54,000-crore Posco steel project in Orissa from the Environment and Forest Ministry.

The Ministry of Environment today asked the Orissa government to stop all work related to the Rs 54,000-crore Posco steel project, following the recommendation of an expert committee to revoke the clearance given to the South Korean steel major in December 2009.
