NEW DELHI: The Union Steel Minister, Virbhadra Singh on Wednesday said his Ministry could step in to seek a speedy clearance for the controversial Rs. 54,000-crore Posco steel project in Orissa from the Environment and Forest Ministry.
The Ministry of Environment today asked the Orissa government to stop all work related to the Rs 54,000-crore Posco steel project, following the recommendation of an expert committee to revoke the clearance given to the South Korean steel major in December 2009.

out strongly in open against the environment and forest ministry
Stop work order in POSCO dated 04th August 2010 with regard to diversion of 1253.225 ha of forest land for establishment of Integrated Steel Plant and Captive Port by POSCO-India Pvt. Ltd., Jagatsinghpur district of Orissa.
