MUMBAI: The apex body of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Monday cleared an ambitious Rs 4,700-crore plan that promises to take care of the metropolitan region's water needs in the coming decades.

The project promises to add 3,000 million litres a day (mld) to the region's supply with the construction of three dams and the extension of a fourth one.
