Kerala will achieve the goal of total electrification within a year, according to the Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan.

Petronet LNG (PLL) is in talks with West Asian countries, including Qatar, to secure gas supply for its Kochi terminal. Petronet has already tied up for 1.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) LNG from the proposed Gorgon project in Australia for its 2.5-mtpa LNG terminal in Kochi, which is expected to be operational in 2012.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After homes, incandescent bulbs are to be shooed out from the streets also. Decision is now awaited on a scheme for replacing incandescent bulbs used in streetlights with Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs).

KOCHI: With the onset of summer, consumption of power has gone up significantly.

At the same time the supply has come down.

If power consumption i s not controlled, it will surely lead to a crisis.

THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Kerala has finally done it. Daily power consumption has, for the first time, crossed 55 million units (MU) in the State. Keralites gobbled up a whopping 55.03 MU on Thursday breaking the existing record of 54.94 MU.
