Officials of Pollution Control Board test water at various points of Tungabhadra

The officials of Pollution Control Board officials who tested the water samples have come to the conclusion that the industrial discharges were not the cause of pollution of Tungabhadra river in and around Kurnool city.

Secunderabad Cantonment will stand to benefit the most from the ban on the use of plastic carry bags in Greater Hyderabad. This is because though the Cantonment Board had banned plastic carry bags from April 2010 in cantonment limits, it has not been able to enforce the ban successfully.

SCB officials have been confiscating plastic carry bags from shops and traders and also levying a penalty.

Dirty and unsafe water is being supplied to citizens of Kurnool city. But the municipal authorities are content with an explanation for the reason without taking any measures for the purification of stagnant tank water. Despite opposition corporators raising the issue and expressing concern at the authorities over supply of poor quality water in the recent council meeting, the authorities merely told members that the reason lay in the lower levels of the supply water tank but gave no assurance of addressing the problem.
