Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy Vs Union of India & Others dated 10/09/2018 regarding leprosy eradication. The Counsel for the Applicant has filed certain 'suggestions' as part of his submissions. Out of the 11 suggestions, 2 of the suggestions pertain to the legislative realm and the Attorney General has aksed for some time in respect of these two aspects. As far as the other 9 suggestions are concerned, Court is of the view that they would fall within the executive sphere.

Petition filed in the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy Vs Union of India & Others regarding laws discriminating against persons affected by leprosy. The petition was filed to highlight the violation of the fundamental rights of persons affected by leprosy under Articles 14, 19 and 21 of the Constitution of India by the continued existence of archaic, discriminatory provisions under 119 Central and State laws.

In December 2017 Supreme Court admitted the petition and ordered notice to be issued to the Central and States Governments.
