Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding a salt factory polluting environment in village Dokha Dina, district Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, 21/09/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sandeep & Others Vs State of Haryana dated 21/09/2023.
The Original Application has been registered on the basis of the letter received from the resident of village Dokha Dina, district Charkhi Dadri, Haryana with the allegation that a factory has been set up by Kohinoor Black Salt which is involved in the process of changing the colour of salt while putting white salt in earthen pots and heating it. It is alleged that in that process coal and plastic waste is used which produces poisonous smoke and is affecting the health of nearby local residents. It is also alleged that open disposal of residue salt and muck has adverse effects on fertility of agricultural land. It was also alleged that the unit had not taken necessary Environmental Clearance (EC) from the authorities.
The tribunal directed the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) to look into the matter and carry out inspection and also ascertain the position of EC by the unit. If any violation is noted then the action in accordance with law will be taken after giving an opportunity of hearing to Project Proponent without any delay.
The court directed the above exercise to be completed within a period of eight weeks and an action taken report be filed before the NGT within 10 weeks.
