Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding a slaughter house operating in violation of environmental laws, Muzaffar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, 24/08/2018
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Tanseer Ahmad Vs. M/s Alnoor Exports & Others dated 24/08/2018 regarding a slaughter house and meat processing unit in Muzaffar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh operating in violation of environmental laws. According to the Applicant the unit is emitting foul smell and discharging animal wastes into the drain in the area. It has not installed antipollution device for treatment of the effluents. The permitted land use, as per Master Plan, is for agriculture. The said unit is also extracting ground water illegally. The Unit is dumping waste in the tributary of Ganga i.e. Ganga Nehar. It is slaughtering 1000-1500 big animals and contaminating the water which is the only source of water for the villagers.
NGT directs the District Magistrate and the Chief Veterinary Officer along with the representative of the UPPCB to get a site inspection done and take suitable action as may be necessary within a period of one month.
