Order of the Supreme Court of India regarding declaration of Eco Sensitive Zones around the National Parks / Sanctuaries, 06/09/2018
Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of In Re: T. N. Godavarman Thirumulpad Vs Union of India & Others dated 06/09/2018 regarding declaration of Eco Sensitive Zones around the National Parks / Sanctuaries.
It has been brought to the Apex Court's notice that one general order cannot be passed in respect of every National Park / Sanctuary. It will depend on each State and also on each National Park / Sanctuary. In other words, the Eco Sensitive Zones have to be site specific.
Supreme Court directs senior officers of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change along with the officers of the CEC, the Amicus and the ASG to try and sort out the problems and minimize the differences at the earliest since it is undoubtedly necessary that the Eco Sensitive Zones should be declared around the National Parks / Sanctuaries.
