Order of the Supreme Court of India regarding razing of an Aravalli hillock for roads, Faridabad, Haryana, 25/08/2020
Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 25/08/2020. Aishwarya Bhati, Assistant Solicitor General (ASG) informed the apex court of a news item in Times of India - which stated that an entire Aravali hillock has been flattened to build an approach road for farmhouses being constructed in village Bandhwari, around 1.5 kms off the Gurgaon - Faridabad road. Anil Grover, Additional Advocate General appearing on behalf of the State of Haryana, has assured the SC that needful would be done to stop further damage.
The SC directed that appropriate action be taken and a report be submitted to the Court forthwith. Further, the District Magistrate and police authorities have been asked to take appropriate action forthwith - "as assured by Mr. Anil Grover, AAG," the order added.
