A two-year-old female elephant calf died under mysterious circumstances in Kallahalla forest area in Titimati of the district.

It appears that the calf might have died at least five days back. It stinks. It has been suspected that the elephant calf might have died due to foot-and-mouth disease, that may be spread from the cattle which graze in forest area.
