Torrential rain over the last few days due to an intense depression over the Bay of Bengal has rendered almost 2 lakh people homeless in East Midnapore in West Bengal. Sabong and Daspur regions in West Midnapore have also been critically affected.

State irrigation minister Manas Bhunia and Union minister of state for rural development Sisir Adhikary have rushed to the flood affected areas.
