In a significant ruling for Internet buffs, a US court recently ruled that putting a site on the World Wide Web doesn't make a person liable to be sued anywhere in the US. They gave the judgement on a lawsuit filed in New York by the operator of a city-based jazz club against a Missouri-based music club with the same name. They argued that the Missouri club's trademark misled their customers. What the judgement means is that the operator of a regional business cannot be taken to court if somebody thinks they have been hurt by a Web site.
