Sugar will not be that sweet this year as its production is likely to fall because cane-growers are diverting cane from sugar mills to khandsari units in the wake of their pending cane dues.

With such largescale diversion of cane crops, the Sugarcane and Cane Development department have prognosticated that the sugar production might see a fall this year.
