A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck an area close to Sri Lanka last morning. There were no reports of casualties or damage nor is there a threat of a tsunami, the tsunami warning centre said yesterday.

said the earthquake struck at 02.33 a.m. 1,151 kilometers (716 miles) south-southeast of Colombo and at a depth of some 20 kilometers (12.4 miles).
