Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of T N Godavarman Thirumulpad Vs Union of India & Others dated 26/03/2025.

The matter related to felling of Khair trees, Katra forest range, District Reasi, Jammu & Kashmir. The SC allowed the application in terms of two prayer clauses.

The first one being modify the management plan in relation  to felling of Khair trees for the year 2016-2017 to 2025-2026 and particularly in relation to the village Bhaga (Sirla) of Katra forest range, Reasi forest division tehsil and district Reasi whereby a time period of 8 weeks be allowed to the applicants to complete the felling activities.

The second being directing the respondents to complete the administrative process provided under rule 4 to 8 (marking etc) within 2 weeks so that applicants can cut and remove the trees within 6 weeks thereafter.
