Central Motor Vehicles (Draft Amendment) Rules, 2022

The Ministry of Road Transport on 4th July 2022 has published the Central Motor Vehicles (Draft Amendment) Rules, 2022. Through this amendment, the definition for the term “Armoured Vehicles” has been notified which means a special purpose vehicle of category M and N which is intended for the protection of conveyed persons or goods with anti-bullet armour plating. Further, a new rule 125L has been notified as follows: Specific exemptions for Armoured Vehicles from the notified provisions under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, shall be in accordance with AIS-194:2022, as amended from time to time, till such time the corresponding BIS specifications are specified under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016(11 of 2016).
