Guidelines for implementation of national project on management of soil health and fertility
The impressive growth of consumption of fertilizer in India in the post-green revolution period ensured increase in foodgrain production from 74.0 million tonnes (MT) in 1966-67 to 209.8 MT during 1999-2000. Production has been ranging between 174 MT to 216 MT, during the last 7 years and the rate of growth of food production has shown a declining trend, in spite of increase in fertilizer consumption during recent times, due to the adverse impact of imbalanced use of fertilizers on foodgrain production and productivity.
