Guidelines for implementation of Waste to Energy Programme
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on November 02, 2022 has issued Guidelines for the Waste to Energy Programme. The following has been stated namely: This shall be in force from April 01, 2021 to March 31, 2026. Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)/Refused Derived Fuel (RDF) to power projects based on thermal technologies are not supported under the Waste to Energy Programme. The balance committed liabilities under the National Bioenergy Programme to be carried forward beyond March 31, 2026 should not exceed 50% of the total outlay of the National Bioenergy Programme after excluding committed liabilities as of the date of EFC. The Objective of the Programme on Energy from Urban, Industrial and Agricultural Wastes/Residues is to support the setting up of Waste to Energy projects for the generation of Biogas/Bio CNG/Power/producer or syngas from urban, industrial and agricultural wastes/residues.
