Question raised in Lok Sabha on Policy for Sanitation, 14/12/2016. Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) was launched on 2nd October, 2014 with aim to make the country Open Defecation Free (ODF) and 100% scientific disposal of municipal solid waste by 2nd October, 2019. The Mission targets the sanitation needs of all groups, communities and individuals in urban areas of the country. Under this Mission, Govt. of India is providing funds of Rs.4,000/- per seat for individual household latrines, Viability Gap Funding (VGF)/grants of Rs. 39,200/- per seat for community and public toilets, and Rs. 12,800/ per urinal seat to the States to achieve the target of the Mission. The state-wise results of municipal solid waste management achieved for door-to-door collection of waste is at Annexure-I.
