Wind energy firms have approached the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity to ensure enforcement of the renewable purchase obligations, complaining that the regulators have failed to penalise those found guilty of non-compliance.

Indian Wind Energy Association and Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association have jointly petitioned against all 25 state electricity regulatory commissions, two joint electricity regulatory commissions, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission and the forum of regulators. The two associations have wind energy generators, developers and equipment manufacturers as their members.
