Question raised in Lok Sabha on Revival/Rejuvenation of Rivers, 10/05/2016. As per the report published by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in February 2015, 302 polluted river stretches have been identified on 275 rivers based on Bio-chemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels, a key indicator of organic pollution. The State-wise details are at Annexure-I.The State-wise details of rivers covered under NRCP, including river Pamba in Kerala, are at Annexure-II.

The third country wide assessment of the status of tigers, copredators and their prey, using the refined methodology has shown a country wide 30% increase in tiger numbers in 2014 with an estimated number of 2226 tigers (range 1945-2491) as compared to second assessment done in 2010 with estimated number of 1706 tigers (range 1520-1909). Question raised in Lok Sabha on Environmental Pollution in Rural Areas, 10/05/2016. Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in association with State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) / Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) is monitoring air quality, water quality and noise levels across the country under National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP), National Water Quality Monitoring Programme (NWMP) and National Ambient Noise Monitoring Network (NANMN) respectively. The NAMP network comprises 612 operating monitoring stations located in 254 cities/towns in 29 states and 5 UTs.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Climate Smart Agriculture, 10/05/2016. The impact of climate change is also expected in economic viability and production of livestock systems through poor availability of quality feed and fodder, decreased reproductive performance and decline in milk production. Further, ICAR- CRIDA has also mapped 572 districts of the country for their vulnerability to extreme events due to climate change. The vulnerability was assessed high to very high in 230 districts, medium in 114 districts and low to very low in 228 districts. The details are placed in Annexure-I.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Rehabilitation of Displaced Families due to Irrigation Projects, 05/05/2016. Water Resources projects are planned and implemented by the respective State Governments. Further, the concerned State Government and Project Authorities make assessment of number of people/families displaced due to such projects and formulate and implement project-wise Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) Plans.
