Question raised in Lok Sabha on Pollution in Yamuna, 21/07/2016. The water quality of river Yamuna is monitored from origin to confluence with River Ganga at Allahabad. The assessment of water quality data indicates that River Yamuna is not meeting the water quality criteria downstream of confluence with drains in Delhi and in downstream reaches along towns situated on the bank of the river. Question raised in Lok Sabha on Nimami Ganga Yojana, 21/07/2016. As on 30th June 2016, 97 projects has been sanctioned under Namami Gange programme (including the existing projects sanctioned under NGRBA programme) in 53 towns at an estimated project cost of Rs 8588.21 Crore.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Interlinking of Rivers, 21/07/2016. The inter-basin transfer of water, through interlinking of rivers (ILR), is considered to be essential for addressing the twin problems of water scarcity and floods.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Flood Management Projects, 21/07/2016. Under the Flood Management Programme (FMP) in a total of 519 projects have been approved during the XI and XII Plan, out of which 297 projects have been completed till date. The completed projects have provided reasonable protection against floods in 19.59 lakh hectare area and benefited 197.23 lakh people in the country. The State-wise details of projects approved, projects completed and area protected under Flood Management Programme (FMP) so far are given at Annex-1 & 2 respectively.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP), 21/07/2016. No new project has been included under AIBP during current financial year. Ninety Nine (99) projects out of 149 ongoing AIBP projects have been prioritized in consultation with States, for completion up to December, 2019. Out of these priority projects 23 projects are planned for completion by March, 2017. Details of these 99 Projects as intimated by State Government are at Annex-I. Under AIBP, 143 projects have been completed out of 297 sanctioned projects.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Untreated Sewage, 19/07/2016. As per the report published by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in March, 2015, the sewage generation from urban areas in the country is estimated at 61,948 million litres per day (mld), whereas the total sewage treatment capacity available is only 23,277 mld, or 37% of the sewage generation. The State-wise details of sewage generation from urban areas and corresponding treatment capacity available is at Annexure-I.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Tiger Reserves, 19/07/2016. As on date, there are 49 tiger reserves in the country and their details, are at Annexure-I. Funding assistance is given to all the tiger States / tiger reserves under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Project Tiger based on their Annual Plan of Operations. So far, funds have been released to 18 tiger reserves during the current financial year 2016-17 and others are in progress.
