Even as there is no fresh report of further escalation in the flood situation of the State, the Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at three places and some of its tributaries are also flowing above the danger level.

According to the evening bulletin of the Central Water Commission (CWC), the Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Dibrugarh, Neamatighat and Dhubri.

The erosion by Beki river has been creating devastation in some parts of Barpeta and Baksa districts for the last few years.

Severe erosion since 2004 has targeted the Barpeta Dairy Farm, among others, and almost 800 bighas of land out of 1800 bighas of land of the farm have been lost to the river till now.

BARPETA, June 19: Safakamar residents have alleged the Gobardhana Development Block in Barpeta district for misappropriation of funds from the Calamity Relief Fund which was released to construct a boulder spur bund along the Beki river to prevent erosion.
