Singh, MP and Rajpal Singh, who met Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje have informed The Hindu that during their meeting she made a commitment to release an initial amount of Rs.15 crores to start work on the Govardhan canal.

Bangalore: The High Court on Thursday ordered issue of notices to the Irrigation Department officials for violating the court order to peg the leakage of canal of Kestur Post in Maddur taluk. The petitioner, K Madhegowda, who filed the civil contempt petition stated that the court direction dated April 8, 2005 to repair the leakage of the canal is yet to be complied with.

Kushalnagar: Kudige Rameshwara Niravari Balakedarara Sahakara Sangha has alleged large scale misappropriations in the repair works of the main canal of Harangi irrigation project. Addressing a news conference, Sangha President I S Ganesh said that the repair works which were taken up recently are of substandard quality and said that the engineers and contractors responsible for such misappropriations must be punished. They said that the matter has been brought to the notice of MLA M P Appachuranjan and senior officials too.
