Increasing industrialization and population causes increase in living standard, which results decrease in the quality of water. The physico-chemical characteristic of water is important determinant of the aquatic system. The present study was carried out in the month of July, 2005 to June, 2006 for the water ponds of Ayodhya and Faizabad.

Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) techniques were adopted to identify the natural resources management related constraints in farming in the Pithla village in Amaniganj Block of Faizabad District in Uttar Pradesh. The study identified acute shortage of water for irrigation at the time of need as the most serious problem adversely affecting the agricultural production and productivity.

A survey has been carried out in a cluster of four villages in Amaniganj Block of Faizabad District of Eastern Uttar Pradesh in India. The survey is based on primary and secondary data collected from household and village level questionnaires.
