While rejecting sections of a proposed road that it fears will disturb India's largest breeding site for flamingos in the Great Rann of Kutch, the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) has recommended

Ahmedabad: A conservation activist found 33 severed heads and legs of lesser flamingos in Gujarat’s Little Rann of Kutch.

AHMEDABAD: With north Gujarat becoming a separate zone, the state forest department proposes to develop another wetland, this time in Banaskantha district. Nadeshwari near Vav district will be one of the largest freshwater wetlands in the country spread over 1,330 sq km.

The Rann is the most remarkable and unique feature of the Kachchh region. 'City of Flamingoes' - the only known breeding grounds of the Flamingo in India had been first reported and discovered in the 1886 by Maharao Khengarji, but it was Dr Salim Ali's work that forms the first major account of this amazing phenomenon.

SALT overpowers you in the Little Rann of Kutch. It burns the insides of your nose. You can taste it on your tongue and lips. It makes your eyes run. All it takes is an hour in the Rann for salt to saturate your senses.
The Little Rann of Kutch is home to the last surviving species of the Asiatic wild ass.
