Two weeks after seven wild elephants were killed by a speeding train in Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, three well-known environment protection groups have successfully carried out demonstration of an imported speed-detection gun on trains in an elephant corridor near Guwahati.

KOLKATA: A rare species of snake, spotted only twice in the past, was discovered at a home in north Bengal's Jalpaiguri town, West Bengal Forest Department officials told The Hindu on Thursday.
