NEW DELHI: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited (OMPL), a special purpose vehicle to execute the Rs. 6,400-crore aromatic petrochemical complex at Mangalore, has mandated SBI Caps to arrange for funds for the $1.52 billion project. The company plans to borrow around $1 billion to fund the project.

NEW DELHI: The five-way alliance of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Indian born steel magnate L. N. Mittal, French energy giant Total, GAIL (India) and Oil India will take a call on the project structure and funding of the 14-15 million tonnes refinery and petrochemical project at Vizag in Andhra Pradesh in November.

GUWAHATI, Sept 14: Total land measuring 2,978 bighas has already been taken over by the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Ltd (BCPL) at Lepetkata in Dibrugarh district to set up an integrated petrochemical complex under the Assam Gas Cracker Project, Government sources revealed today. The district administration has assured to make the land free from from encroachment at the earliest, sources added.

Petrochemicals are hydrocarbons, obtained from naturally occurring raw materials viz. petroleum, natural gas, coal etc. Coal was initially the basic raw material for organic chemical industry. However the basic feedstock has changed recently from coal to petroleum. This is attributed to the recent innovation and technological advance in the field of chemical industry based on petroleum feedstock.

The Manipur Government has banned sale of petroleum products in bulk to the consumers with jerrycans and other containers by all dealers at retail outlets of petroleum products located in the valley districts with immediate effect.

The step was a part of the stringent measures to prevent dealers in valley area from supplying oil at their respective retail outlets in containers with effect from Thursday.

Reliance Industries, the largest Indian private company, is in talks with Brazilian energy giant Petroleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) to set up two petrochemical joint ventures, sources close to the development said. Both greenfield projects will require a total investment of around $6 billion (nearly Rs 25,800 crore).
