Order of the National Green Tribunal  the matter of Krishna Das KV Vs State of Kerala dated 07/01/2025.

The matter is related to pollution in in Ashtamudi lake, Kollam district, Kerala.

The NGT received a report from Justice A V Ramakrishna Pillai, Chairman, State Level Monitoring Committee, Kerala reporting massive killing of fishes in Ashtamudi lake. The report depicts a very serious and pathetic condition of the Ashtamudi lake, which is a Ramsar site, noted the court.

Joint committee report submitted by the Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) in Original Application No 333 of 2022 (S Unnikrishnan Vs State of Kerala). The matter related to measures to protect and maintain Pandavanpara.

The applicant had alleged that companies were using huge explosive material near the Pandavanpara adversely affecting the same and destroying its supportive rocks and that in case the same is continued, Pandavanpara will collapse.

Report filed by the Senior Environmental Engineer on behalf of Kerala State Pollution Control Board.

The matter related to failure to take action for protecting Astamudi wetland and Vembanad-kol wetland, a Ramsar site in Kollam district of Kerala.

The Kerala State Pollution Control Board had conducted a sanitation survey of Ashtamudi lake and found that the main reason for the pollution of the lake water was the indiscriminate discharge of sewage and dumping of solid waste from households and establishments.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Krishna Das K V Vs State of Kerala dated 28/02/2022.

Grievance in the application is against failure to take remedial action for protecting Ashtamudi wetland and Vambanad-Kol wetland, a Ramsar site in Kollam district of Kerala. Wetland has become polluted due to dumping of pharmaceutical waste, plastic waste, domestic waste, slaughter-house waste and numerous other sources.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Koshy Samuel Vs State of Kerala dated 24/01/2022.

Grievance in the application is regarding Konuthupuzha River which is in Tripunithura District and requires immediate attention to resolve the issues of flooding of the adjacent area by the river due to chocking and also to solve the issue of pollution.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sanjeev S J, President, Environmental Protection and Research Council Vs State of Kerala dated 30/07/2019 regarding Environment Clearance (EC) for a construction project by M/s Draganstone Realty Pvt. Ltd. obtained by concealing facts about the actual built up area. Report from State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) said that EC was granted on June 2018, which has since expired and the new application is still pending.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of K.J. Peter Vs State of Kerala dated 03/05/2019 regarding fake Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates being issued in the State of Kerala resulting in pollution remaining unchecked.
