Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd - the company which carried out disposal of 33.32 tonne of lime from the now-closed plant of the Union Carbide Corporation India Ltd (UCIL) in Bhopal where a gas leak killed thousands in December 1984 - today denied that it currently has any toxic waste lying for disposal at the industrial area of Pithampur.

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board had cleared the trial run of the incineration of hazardous waste lying on the Union Carbide factory premises here, overlooking several violations of Hazardous Wastes (Management and Handling) Rules.

The Anderson escape and all related matters of the Bhopal tragedy have to be seen as part of our slavish mentality which lacks the courage of conviction to stand up to our "superiors" in public interest. It is shameful that persons in positions of authority often conduct themselves as saleable and purchasable, spineless entities in the existing system. Truth has to come out, asserts Hari Jaisingh.

A case under various sections of IPC was registered against then Union Carbide Corporation chairman Warren Anderson and several functionaries of the company for causing immense loss to human and cattle life. But it has not been handled with due care. There are so many disturbing aspects of the whole episode, reports N D Sharma from Bhopal.

Says real culprits of gas tragedy not punished.

The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh has planned a three-pronged strategy to help the families of Bhopal gas disaster.

Industrialist Keshub Mahindra and six other accussed convicted in the Bhopal gas tragedy case today challenged a Chief Judicial Magistrate's court verdict in a District and Sessions court here. The hearing on the application will take place in District and Sessions Judge Subhash Kakde's court tomorrow.
