Judgement of the National Green Tribunal regarding the Renuka Dam project across river Giri, 02/02/2016
Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Puran Chand & Others Vs State of Himachal Pradesh through its Secretary Environment to the Government of Himachal Pradesh & Others dated 02/02/2016 regarding regarding the Renuka Dam project across river Giri. River Giri is a perennial river which flows from its origin at Himachal Pradesh down to meet river Yamuna near Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh and passes through the area between Dadahu town and Badaun village.
A committee comprising of Principle Chief Conservator of Forest, Himachal Pradesh, Chairman or his nominee of Expert Appraisal Committee of River Valley and Hydro Power Project of Ministry of Environment and Forest and Climate Change and others shall report whether there is a complete and comprehensive resettlement and rehabilitation policy in place, in relation to the project in view of the discrepancy in the land requirement for the project and the submergible land and modification, if any required to ensure protection of environment and ecology in the execution of the project in question.
