Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vikram Kanwar Vs State of Himachal Pradesh dated 28/01/2020 regarding illegal mining and sand crushing by Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department and Central Public Works Department contractors by using mobile stone crushers in Himachal Pradesh.

Report filed by the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (HPSPCB) acknoweledged violation of law. The NGT directed the HPSPCB to assess and recover compensation for the damage to the environment on ‘Polluter Pays’ principle, after following due procedure of law.
