Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding illegal operation of a drinking water unit in Ahinsangar, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, 24/09/2019
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vinod Kumar Jaiswal Vs State of Maharashtra dated 24/09/2019 regarding illegal running of an industrial unit for manufacturing of packaged drinking water in CTS No. 12369/361, Plot No. 40, Ahinsangar, Aurangabad which is stated to be a residential area. Unauthorized drawal of groundwater through dug well and bore well has also been alleged.
A report was submitted by Committee comprising of Commissioner, Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, the Regional Officer, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and the Regional Director, Central Ground water Board. The report revealed that the industry was in operation in a residential area and it has not received any NOC for running the RO plant.
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and the Regional Director, Central Ground Water Board has been ordered to take appropriate action against the industrial unit as per law. The Tribunal, made it clear that the action would include closure of the unit and imposition of environmental compensation.
