Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sushil Raaja Vs Secretary, MORTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways) & Others dated 13/04/2018 regarding maintenance of green cover along highways. The States were asked to furnish the following information:

a. Stretch of roads in different areas in the State where trees have been felled and the areas identified for compensatory afforestation.

b. The number of trees proposed to be felled.

MOEF has submitted that the requisite information has not been given by :

1. State of Jammu & Kashmir, 2. NCT of Delhi 3. State of Karnataka, 4. State of Manipur, 5. State of Maharashtra, 6. State of Telangana 7. State of Arunachal Pradesh.

NGT grants by way of last opportunity time up to 27th April, 2018 to the aforesaid states to furnish information to MoEF, failing which they would be saddled with cost of Rs. 5,000/- per day, thereafter till the information is submitted.
