Report filed by the Wetland Authority of India regarding the remedial action taken to ensure rejuvenation of the Najafgarh Jheel, 21/12/2023
Report filed by the Wetland Authority of India regarding the remedial action taken to ensure rejuvenation of the Najafgarh Jheel (lake) situated on the Delhi-Gurgaon border.
The water body falls partly in NCT of Delhi and partly in Haryana. The monitoring of water quality is being done on a quarterly basis by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).
The high level committee (HLC) in its meeting, October 10, 2023 observed that the plan for rejuvenation of Najafgarh drain requires sizeable land and therefore the area needs to be assessed from both requirement and availability of land and the Najafgarh Wetlands Committee headed by District Magistrate (South West) has been requested to arrive at a realistic area of the Najafgarh jheel so that the environment management plan (EMP) can be accordingly modified/finalised.
