Who is now pushing for the use of pesticide ddt ( dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane ) in its malaria control programme , which the industrialised countries like the us banned 30 years back. Following the recommendation, meant particularly to target developing countries like Africa, the us government has said it is prepared to fund the campaign once the respective governments put in place the necessary plans for using the pesticide safely. The Ugandan government has already given a go-ahead.

ddt was banned because it accumulates in the fat cells of non-target species and becomes more concentrated as it moves up the food chain. But who says ddt is an effective malaria-control measure and it will be sprayed indoors to ensure it does not get into food chain.
