15 out of 1 million need liver transplant every year
LUCKNOW: Epidemiological studies show that 1-2% of the total Indian population is a carrier of Hepatitis B. This makes a large chunk of these carriers vulnerable to cirrhosis and cancers of liver. Transplant is perhaps the only way to save these lives. These facts were shared by Dr M Rela, chief liver transplant surgeon, Kings College Hospital London in an interview with TOI.
