THE Supreme Court has directed all state governments to demolish unauthorised constructions on gram sabha lands and evict squatters. A bench comprising Justice Markandeya Katju and Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra asked chief secretaries of States and Union Territories to comply with its order on the issue and file periodical compliance reports. The court decided to monitor the matter.
