GUWAHATI: The two-day ‘State Convention against Big Dam’ concluded here on Monday. The Monday session of the convention witnessed several speakers delving deep into the implications of the big dams including the controversial Lower Subansiri project on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

Addressing the gathering at the convention, Ramaswamy R Iyer, Former Secretary, Water Resources Ministry, Government of India, said that there was no proper study made in regard to the downstream impact of the Lower Subansiri dam. “NHPC often says that the Lower Subansiri project is a run on the river project and the downstream impact of such project is low.
