KOCHI: A recent report by the McKinsey Global Institute states that by 2030, 70 percent of jobs in India would be created in cities, and about 5.9 crore Indians would live there. To provide enough housing and commercial space, it says, India must build the equivalent of the city of Chicago every year.

But with the existing conditions, it is not feasible to build new cities in our country.
