Idol immersion may further pollute Ganga
According to the recent reports of Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), the delayed monsoon showers had increased the pollution in Ganga and the situation would be more grim in winter.
The report presented by the UP Pollution Control Board is enough to give a second thought to the idea of immersing Durga idols in water. As per the report, water at the point from which Ganga is entering in the city, that is Bithoor, is comparatively clear but the river gets polluted further. Jajmau, the last stop of Ganga is most polluted.
