Hyderabad, April 25: Dwindling coal reserves are forcing industries to go for imported coal from Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa and China in a big way. About 50 million tonnes of coal is imported for power generation every year.

This figure is expected to double by 2012 when more thermal power projects come up.
