The Assam government will launch an exclusive literacy programme for child labourers in the age group of 14 to 17 years in the urban areas tentatively from January.

Official sources said the plan has been initiated after a statewide survey in the urban areas four months back by the directorate of non-formal and adult education (under the Assam education department), on the literacy status of ch
