The Bombay high court recently adjourned for final disposal, the hearing in a case pertaining to the Patents Rules, 1972. The Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (idma) had in July this year challenged the amendments to these rules, though the government has said that changes in the rules were necessary for compliance under trips . Earlier, the division bench had admitted an intervention application from the Institute of Intellectual Property Rights in support of the government, while the Intellectual Property Law Practitioners' Association has sought to support most points raised in the idma petition.
